FAQs

What is a Surf Tour?

A surf tour is a 5 hour day trip along the Pacific Coast Highway, where our avid surfers/guides can share their local knowledge, act as transportation and also your private beach concierge.  We visit 2 surf breaks during the day and a picnic beach lunch is provided.  At the second surf break, guests can opt to sightsee, shop or just chill if they are done in the water.  We use the iconic open air vans we developed for our other sightseeing tours to make this surf trip one of a kind.  This is not just a surf lesson, this is the total emersive SoCal surf day trip.

With over a decade creating unforgettable experiences, Surf City Tours is Santa Monica’s top choice for sightseeing and adventure. Boasting a 5-star rating on TripAdvisor, Google, and GetYourGuide, we offer unique open air vans, expert guides, and a tour packed with fun facts and good times. Choose Surf City Tours for an unforgettable day you can’t experience anywhere else!

How long is the Surf Tour?

The surf tour starts at 9am and lasts about 5 hours.  You can expect to be back to the starting point by about 2pm.  This is meant to be a fun, laid back surf adventure, so if getting back a little later than 2pm won’t work for your schedule please let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.

What skill level is this experience for?

We go to great lengths to make this experience fun and experience level appropriate for any guest.  By keeping the group sizes small (6 people max), and using our extensive local knowledge, we’re able to pick the best surf spots for the day. Most of our options have different areas designated for any surf levels, so we can ensure everyone has a great time and stays in their comfort zone.

What gear do I need?

None!  Easy.

We supply wetsuits, soft or hard top surfboards of various lengths.  As well as towels, beach blanket, sunscreen, shade and various beach day necessities.

Actually the less you bring the better, and we can securely watch any belongings back at the shop.

How much does the Surf Tour cost?

The whole experience only costs $185 per adult or $165 per Child (5-12 years old)

How do I reserve my tour?

For reservations we ask that you book your date and time online. If you have any trouble at all we’re always available over the phone or email for questions and concerns.

Where can I park?

We recommend parking at 1541 Ocean Ave. The parking entrance is on Ocean Ave right next to the Red O Cantina and Del Frisco Grill – just north of the Santa Monica Pier entrance. The price may vary, but it costs roughly $10 for all-day parking depending on the time of year.

What should I bring for my tour?

We recommend bringing one dry layer of clothes, phone (unless you truly want to go off the grid), and small wallet or card holder.  If there’s a specialty sunscreen you like go ahead and bring that too.

We supply everything else, and the less valuables the guide needs to keep track of, the more hands on he can be to help you enjoy your trip.
